You are NOT SINGLE, Mother

"Mom, mom? I'm bringing you some food."
Nathan brought food for her mother. He was collecting plastic, bottles, and others to sell.
"Here's the food Mom."
Nathan handed the food to his sick mother.
"I don't need that."
His mother replied and slapped the food away from his hand. He cried while picking up the wasted food on the floor.
"Please Mom, you need to eat."
"I don't need food. All I need is vodka."
Nathan's mother had been an alcoholic for 5 years already after his father left them. He found his mom cheating on another man and it bleeded his heart. It was okay if it was just the first time but it happened many times. No matter how his mother asked for apologies, his father thought it was too much and decided to let go. His teary eyes looked at 2-year-old Nathan and tried to approach but his mother used him.
"If you go you can not see your son or even just to be near him."
Nathan's Father didn't have a choice. He couldn't bear to live with his wife seeing every day hurting him from that pain of cheating. He walked away with flooded eyes and said, "I'll be back for you Nathan. I promise."
Since then, only Nathan and his mother lived through themselves. His mother was drinking endlessly, and thanks to the neighbors when his mother was away and sleeping they fed Nathan in secret.

At the age of 5 Nathan started earning money for himself. Even growing up without his mother's love, he continued to live on. Every day he went out to collect garbage to make sure the both of them could eat. Rain or shine, with his young age he didn't mind it as long as he could buy food.
