My Daily Life as a Store Owner/Attendant (Day 1- Talking)

Earning just a small amount and daily life is boring. There’s nothing to talk about, instead a life full of worries and wonders. Imagine you have a whole day of thinking about what's going on. Rarely, you can go outside to have fun or to have time with people, like friends, neighbours or maybe strangers.

Every early in the morning, I opened the store; It’s too early that only the crow of the rooster was the one making a noise. Not a single human presence that can warm the surroundings to lessen the cold morning breeze. As I looked around there’s no one yet, it’s still dark that only the bulbs were bright and sometimes only the moon that is turning to sleep from a long night. Yes, it was not the time for a person to wake up or to walk through.

If you get lucky, there will be more customers to come - you will have someone to talk to even just for a short time. It doesn’t always happen because you know it’s just a small store. So yeah, when you’re tired of watching on your phone what's going on the internet; all you can do is to watch the outside next to the store and it continues until the world turns into noon.

The noon time is quite a struggle if I must say,lol. After eating lunch and maybe just an hour you will get sleepy all of a sudden. The ceiling fan that creates its wind will force you to close your eyes. You don’t want to sleep because you’re still watching over the store but it’s hard not to when you can only have a few customers in an hour but in a different time. Often, you can’t help but close your eyes when thinking of taking a nap only. But you’re thinking of just sleeping instead, all of a sudden, a single customer comes to buy candies for only 5 pesos. You can’t ignore it if you don’t want to have a bad reputation from customers.

The night time watching the store is very different from earlier times. There are more customers to be expected even during the deep night. It’s the time where the store can earn well even if you’re sleepy already. Why not when you stayed up for the whole day. Still, you have no choice but to stay awake, hoping to earn more.

It’s funny but those are the struggles when owning or watching over the store. I found it funny because even if I’m experiencing it day by day or everyday while taking care of our small store I’m still here doing that. But just to be clear, I’m not complaining or dissatisfied with the kind of life I’m having right now. I’m stating the fact about it but I found it challenging and at the same time satisfied by it.

I woke up while taking care of what’s in my home. What’s in the home? Of course, my wife or should we call it my family. I don't have to go far to find resources to provide food on the table. I don’t need to insert myself in crowded places and work with unhealthy workers. It’s not much maybe for now, but I know it’s only at the moment. Time will come that it will become bigger as long as I will be determined and work hard for it. It’s kind of boring, I know but sometimes a boring place can be peaceful living.
